If you make any arguments in your essay, summarize them in the introduction. No two reviews are the same (not counting cases of plagiarism), but there are general principles that will help you make your essay as effective as possible, whatever your goal. For example, if you are trying to convince the reader of something in your essay, you may find it helpful to summarize your thoughts in the first or first few paragraphs of the introduction. This will help the reader understand what you will be reinforcing your thoughts with.

If you're writing a fiction essay, try to capture the reader's attention. Fiction texts are filled with emotion much more than all other texts. In such essays, it is appropriate to begin with metaphors. If you try to write something engaging or memorable in the first few phrases, you can keep the reader interested in your work. Since fiction texts do not assume a rigid structure like analytical essays (i.e., planning the structure, formulating the purpose), you will have more freedom of expression here.

If you are writing a text related to art and entertainment, connect some details with the main topic. Work in this field (writing reviews of movies, books, and so on) has fewer restrictions by rules and requirements than writing technical texts, but introductions to essays even in such texts can turn out more interesting if you use the technique of overlapping details. It is possible to make the beginning non-serious, but still describe the main topic of the essay or point to it with small but important details.

If you're writing a technical or scientific essay, don't go overboard. Not all texts have to be gripping. Wit and fantasy have no place in the world of serious analytical, technical, and scientific texts. Such texts serve practical purposes: they inform the reader about serious and important issues. Because these texts have only an informational purpose (and are sometimes meant to persuade the reader of something), they should not use jokes, flashy images, or anything else that is not directly related to the task at hand.

If you are a journalist, write about the most important things first. Journalistic essays are different from other styles: they usually emphasize facts rather than the author's opinion, so the introductory phrases in such essays will be rather descriptive (there will be no arguments or desire to convince the reader of anything). In serious, objective journalism, writers are required to put the most important information in the first sentence, so that the reader can learn about the essence of the article immediately after reading the headline.
